Departure: 10:00 AM. Please check in at the reception no later than 45 minutes before departure.

Whale Area, Bleik Canyon

We set course for the underwater canyon Bleik, in search of the highlight of the whale safari - the sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus). On the way to the open sea, we regularly encounter various whale species that inhabit these waters, such as:

- Pilot whale (Globicephala melas)

- Minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata)

- Orca or killer whale (Orcinus orca)

- Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae)

- Atlantic white-sided dolphin (Lagenorhynchus acutus)

- Porpoise (Phocoena phocoena)

Each safari is different, making the experience even more exciting! When we leave the harbor, we never know exactly what kind of whales await us on that particular day.

Return to Stø

On the way back, we will serve you a warm meal: our delicious fish soup or vegetable soup with bread. The soups are made with local ingredients and self-collected herbs. You can enjoy the boat ride and the magnificent scenery while summarizing the safari experiences with our friendly crew.

The last stop on our whale safari is the island of Anda. Here, we take you close to the bird cliffs, home to thousands of seabirds. Around 30,000 puffins reside on the island every summer from mid-April to mid-August. We will also go near the flat rocks north of the island to see if we can find harbor seals resting on the rocks. Some of the bird species you can expect to see are:

- White-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla)

- Puffin (Fratercula arctica)

- Cormorant and shag (Phalacrocorax carbo and Phalacrocorax sinensis)

- Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla)

- Common guillemot (Uria aalge)

- Razorbill (Alca torda)

Our success rate on safari is around 98%, but occasionally we may not spot any whales (after all, we are dealing with nature and wildlife). For such rare days, we have a whale guarantee: If we don't see any whales, interested guests can join another safari for free (subject to availability, non-redeemable for cash). In this case, please contact the reception after the tour, and we will rebook you.
