Summer is one of the best times of the year to visit Lofoten and the Arctic due to the phenomenon of the midnight sun: the sun never sets between May and July! When on vacation in Lofoten, Norway, the closest place to see the whales is in Andenes, which takes 5 hours by bus.

We make this tour accessible and comfortable for you, thus making this bucket list trip possible for you. This tour includes scenic bus transport along one of Norway's national tourist routes between Svolvær and Andøya, and a ferry crossing between Lofoten and Vesterålen (35 minutes) - truly a complete summer experience.

From Lofoten to Andøya in Vesterålen

Whale watching is one of the best activities to do once in Lofoten, during summer in Norway. In fact, summer is one of the best times of the year to see whales like orcas, sperm whales, and others, spotted along the Vesterålen coast. If you're lucky, it's also possible to spot other types of whales like pilot whales, minke whales, dolphins, and even humpback whales.

Upon arrival in Andenes, it's time to suit up and hop on a Rigid Inflatable Boat! This RIB tour lasts between 2 to 3 hours, and then you'll head back to Andenes, to catch the bus back to Svolvær.

Schedule:

07:35 - departure from Svolvær center (Fiskegata) or Svinøya, with Arctic Route bus

08:30 - 09:05 - ferry to Vesterålen

11:00 - photo stop at Marmelkroken Lodge (10 min)

12:35 - arrival in Andenes

13:00-16:00 - Whale safari

16:45 - departure from Andenes to Svolvær with Arctic Route bus

17:00 - unique photo stop at Norway's longest white sandy beach at Bleik (10 min)

20:20-20:45 - ferry back to Lofoten

21:30: arrival in Svolvær
